We have pioneered and become the world-leader of organic Crystal Structure Prediction. With our pharmaceutical industry customers and staff from all around the world, we are inventing the next generation of software tools for in silico materials design.

The position is full time, permanent. As part of a German and English speaking team you work in close collaboration with two senior IT specialists. You report to Dr Marcus Neumann, the Science and IT Director and to Elsa Gheziel M.A., the HR, Communication and Administration Director. You start within three months.

Preparing, obtaining and maintaining ISO 27001 certification, you play a key role in supporting AMS´s business growth:

  • you design, implement and maintain IT security measures, in collaboration with our IT team
  • you train all collaborators from secretary to scientists
  • you ensure reviews and policy compliance

Avant-garde Materials Simulation has successfully competed in the last three CSP blind tests and is pioneering other areas of predictive materials modelling. We rapidly deploy new technology to leading pharmaceutical companies.

Our offices are located in Freiburg (Merzhausen), Germany, on the border of the Black Forest. The city has a rich student life with a variety of places to unwind after work. Close to France and Switzerland, the Black Forest is one of Germany ́s most touristic regions known for the beauty of its lakes and landscapes. In the wintertime the region offers good opportunities for alpine and cross-country skiing.

Your responsibilities

  • Draft policies and guidelines to comply with ISO 27001 standards
  • Collaborate with management and the IT department to improve security
  • Take in charge IT security audits of our customers
  • Identifying vulnerabilities in our current network
  • Identify and solve potential and actual security problems
  • Implement and maintain security controls
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to secure our computing network
  • Monitor network usage to ensure compliance with security policies
  • Keep up to date with developments in IT security standards and threats
  • Document security breaches and assess their damage if any
  • Educate colleagues about security software and best practices for information security

  • Excellent written and spoken English and German

  • Proven work experience as a Security Specialist, ISO officer or similar role in a Linux/Mac environment

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
